Strength Where You Need It Most

Cequent engaged us to redesign the hinge of their existing Reese brand folding loading ramp to improve its overall performance. The prior hinge design did not quite live up to their high standards, so they looked to us to make it smaller, stronger, and streamlined. The new hinge design transformed a popular product into a stronger, safer, more efficient one – we even improved upon safety while handling.

First, we analyzed the failure mode of the existing product design, then quickly conceived of an entirely new design that would increase its strength and functionality. The improved engineering design was created in CAD, and structurally analyzed internally with our powerful ANSYS FEA software. Prototypes were then CNC machined, assembled with the ramp, and evaluated for full load performance in our test lab.
